An early cover design for The Barcelona Journal Murders.
The sepia color was used to convey that this is a period novel. The background picture is a shot of Barcelona in the 1900s and the three pictures on the cover represent the main protagonists. The rose, a very prevalent symbol in Catalan culture, represents love, of course.
Later, I concluded that portraits of 3 yet-to-be-read-about protagonists did not communicate much of anything to a potential reader. I opted for a single picture that establishes a clear mood and represents Lulu in the novel, a beautiful woman with a difficult past and a complicated present.
